The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court recently issued directions to prison authorities and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) to protect the rights of prisoners.  

The court passed the directions after taking into consideration the recommendations submitted by the petitioner’s counselHenri Tiphagne, to avoid such mistakes in future, which would aff ect the liberty of the prisoners.
