The Madras High Court on Monday granted the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) time till March 18 to trace the anti-Sterlite activist T. Mugilan alias Shanmugam. The time was granted at the instance of the prosecution which claimed to have examined 148 witnesses so far.

சூழலியலாளர் முகிலன் காணாமல் போன விவகாரத்தில் ஹென்றி திபேன் என்பவர் ஆட்கொணர்வு மனு ஒன்றினை ஐகோர்ட்டில் தாக்கல் செய்திருந்தார். இதன் மீதான விசாரணை இன்று நடைபெற்றது.
தூத்துக்குடி துப்பாக்கி சூடு தொடர்பான வீடியோவை வெளியிட்ட சுற்றுச்சூழல் ஆர்வலர் முகிலன் மாயமான வழக்கில் இதுவரை 148 பேரிடம் விசாரணை நடத்தியுள்ளதாக ஐகோர்ட்டில் சி.பி.சி.ஐ.டி. போலீசார் தகவல் தெரிவித்தனர்.
சென்னை ஐகோர்ட்டில், மனித உரிமைகள் ஆர்வலர் ஹென்றி டிபேன் என்பவர் தாக்கல் செய்துள்ள ஆட்கொணர்வு மனுவில், ‘தூத்துக்குடியில் ஸ்டெர்லைட் ஆலைக்கு எதிராக பொதுமக்கள் கடந்த ஆண்டு மே 22-ந்தேதி போராட்டம் நடத்தினர். அப்போது கண்மூடித்தனமாக போலீசார் நடத்திய துப்பாக்கி சூட்டில் 13 பேர் பலியானார்கள்.
Chennai: The CB-CID has been entrusted with the investigation and tracing of a Tamil Nadu environmental activist Mugilan alias Shanmugham. Mugilan went missing on February 15
shortly after he claimed involvement of senior police officers in the police firing at anti-Sterlite
protesters at Tuticorin on May 22 and 23 last year which claimed the lives of 13 people.
The state government has ordered CB-CID probe following repeated pleas by activists and political
parties to trace the missing activist.
Chennai: The Madras high court on Friday directed the Egmore police to file a status report on the action taken pursuant to a complaint seeking to trace anti-Sterlite activist Mugilan, who has been allegedly missing since February 15.
A division bench of Justice M Sathyanarayanan and Justice M Nirmal Kumar passed the interim order on the habeas corpus petition moved by human rights activist Henri Tiphange seeking a direction to the Tamil Nadu police to trace and produce the anti-Sterlite activist.

The Madras High Court issued notices to Chennai’s police commissioner and the Superintendents of Police of Kanchipuram and Villupuram districts in the matter.
Two days after Mugilan — the activist who alleged that senior police officers were involved in the Sterlite firing — went missing, the Madras High Court issued notices to the Commissioner of Police, Chennai and the Superintendents of Police of Kanchipuram and Villupuram districts based on a habeas corpus petition filed in the court.
